“Le Dossier Mona Lina”: misleading promises
After an exhausting mission, a Mossad agent is assigned to an operation in a quiet theory: to watch over the recovery time of a Lebanese Hezbollah defector, Mona (Golshifteh Farahani), in a secure hideout in Germany. But the old allies of Mona are in his footsteps.
Who manipulates who, who is the bait, and who is the prey? At the complex base (and plunged into a diplomatic vortex since the untimely decisions of Donald Trump), the geopolitical situation in the Levant is a breeding ground for a good thriller espionage in touch with reality. The Israeli filmmaker Eran Riklis, who has broken with border issues (see, for example, La Fiancée syrienne in 2005), does not hesitate to criticize the cynicism of state (and his own) state-run pharmacies operating in spite of morality and according to interests of the moment, even if it means sacrificing as many pawns (that is, lives) as necessary.
After a thunderous start supported by a music and a distribution worthy of the great international productions, the film engages in a face-to-face promising since it opposes a renegade and a spy must cohabit by obligation, tried the one and the another through friendship but can not take the risk of lowering the guard. This formidable stake of suspense is unfortunately dislocated with each exit of the closed session, the promiscuity constituting an accelerator of situation as much as a developer. As for the outcome, “abroad”, it appears a little fast and especially frustrating.
